The principal objectives of the CEATA are to increase the agricultural production capacity (both in terms of yields and quality) in order to meet the local demand for quality fruits and vegetables to the greatest possible extent; and to lay the foundations, which will enable private initiatives, for the increased exportation of these food items. The project to be carried out involves the installation of a Demonstration and Training Centre for High Yield Crops (CHYC).
This Centre is the keystone of the project and is to be devoted to training and providing technical assistance to farmers and other agricultural stakeholders, through the demonstration of advanced crop technology compatible with production under tropical conditions. The Centre will allow for the transfer of appropriate technology adapted to the local conditioning agro-climatic and social factors, and to develop training programmes which guarantee the correct use and development of the aforementioned technology. It will also serve as a meeting point to the agriculture sector, where Research, Development & Innovation may be applied to business development and promotion.
